Stuck in a Belief System -- Atheism

  .

Most people who profess to be atheists are not really atheists.   They've looked at one or more of the major religions and found dozens unprovable beliefs, numerous unsubstantiated assumptions, and such rampant hypocrisy that they have declared that religion is a fantasy of the foolish, and therefore God does not exist.   When pressed, most will usually reply that they can't say with absolute certainty that the universe does not have some sort of consciousness behind it.   They will likely say that they don't know what created the universe, but the Gods of the major religions are definitely not that source.   This uncertainty indicates that many and perhaps most self-declared atheists are actually agnostics.   They are doubters and not hard-nosed true believers.

Does God Exist

.

Is there a God  The answer depends entirely on what you mean by the word "God."   Before you can have a meaningful discussion about any religious questions,  or have an intelligent dialogue about  "The Source of the Universe," you first have to define what you mean when you say, "God."

If one chooses to believe anything about God, including the belief that God does not exist, one must take what is called the leap of faith.²   When contemplating this unknown mystery, there are no provable facts, only theories, beliefs, best guesses, speculation, and, of course, there are an abundance of religious  fairytales.    Readers are directed to the TLC-Life-Center website:   http://www.Does-God-Exist.net#77 ²

Spiritual Awareness

A Look at How Humans Relate to "God"

.

Spiritual beliefs  (or the lack of them)  provide the foundation upon which all human behavior is based.   Spiritual beliefs provide the context, within which we each hold our beliefs about what life is, about what God is or isn't, about religion, about government and social behavior, about sex and marriage, about personal and business relationships, and about everything else you can imagine.

With regard to our relationship:

to who and what we are,

to where we came from,

to why we are here, and

to what happens after our body dies,

there are only three known possibilities.    We refer to  these possibilities as religious assumptions.   They are:

Christian one-life-ism,

Atheism,  and

Reincarnation.

Because each of these three, basic, religious assumptions  contains at least one major component that is in direct conflict with the other two, **mc8  only one of them can possibly be an accurate representation of Earth-plane reality.   Deductive reasoning leaves us with this conclusion:   At least two of these assumptions contain major false beliefs.   This means that significant pieces of two  of the Earth’s major religious philosophies must be fantasy creations — products of the believer’s collective imaginations.

Because each of the assumptions has millions or billions of devotees, their mutual exclusivity leaves more than three billion people basing their lives on a fantasy illusions and living outside of objective reality.   A significant number of religious leaders support, promote, and/or endorse murder and mayhem against those who hold different religious assumptions.   All of this says that, on a global scale, and as a species, we’re in pretty bad shape.

And of course, you and I both know that our religion is the one and only true religion.   But wait a minute!    We hold different religious beliefs.   We can't both be completely right.   How do we account for and how do we deal with our differences?   The page on our website titled Spiritual Awareness offers some possible answers to these questions.

How to Talk to an Atheist

.

There is a the crack in their armor of beliefs that allows us to reach most self-declared atheists.   That crack is the lack of certainty that atheism is the absolute truth.   The best approach we have thus far found involves inviting them to examining the evidence.    A good place to start is with the two videos,   "What the Bleep Do We Know"   and  "Down the Rabbit Hole" -- These two, excellent videos  give viewers a big-time wake-up call with regard to how the universe functions and our place in it

One might also ask,  "Have you ever been wrong?   Is it possible that you are wrong about something right now?"   If you ignore Global Warming and you are wrong about atheism, what are the consequences?   Perhaps you might at least consider the various possibilities.    Regarding the origin and the nature of man, here is a possibility to consider:

Notes and References

.

**mc8   **mc8       The Primary conflicts are in the assumptions regarding the nature of a human being.

Those who believe in Christian one-life-ism  have declared that every human being is a brand new soul  created at conception  --  that he/she lives only one life on Earth and then goes heaven, hell, or an undefined "somewhere else" forever.

Those who believe in Atheism  have declared that a human being is nothing more than Earth matter that has magically acquired consciousness.   They believe that when the body dies, that consciousness dies with it.

Those who believe in Reincarnation believe that humans are eternal, non-physical, divine beings who always were and always will be.   They believe that each and every human is an eternal being temporarily inhabiting a physical body.

Because these beliefs are mutually exclusive, only one of them can possibly be right.   The other two must be fantasy creations of human imagination.  Which one is the correct assumption?   No one can say that they know with absolute certainty, however, the overwhelming evidence leads to the conclusion that reincarnation is the correct assumption.   But, don't believe us, and don't disbelieve us, either.   Examine the evidence for yourself.   Here are two places to start looking:
